The steel construction, i.e. the rack rows, is therefore significantly more durable than the storage and retrieval machines. This is a central starting point for a system retrofit, in which only the storage and retrieval machines are brought up to the latest state of the art, rather than replacing an entire storage system. In addition to the significantly lower investment costs compared to a complete new build, the high system availability is a major advantage. The existing storage system is only down for a short time during the modernization measures and is fully operational again afterwards. What's more, more modern technology often ensures faster cycle times and lower energy consumption.
Possible replacement components for a retrofit
- New drive technology with frequency-controlled three-phase motors
- Energy recovery for greater energy efficiency / lower power consumption
- Mobile, decentralized control cabinet
- Positioning systems
- Laser measuring systems
- Sensors / actuators
- Bus systems for secure data flow
- Conductor rail / busbar
For manageable measures, an overhaul can be carried out directly on site. From a certain level of complexity, the replacement of complete storage and retrieval machines is also recommended.
