Gerhard Schubert GmbH, a leading and internationally active manufacturer of packaging machines, operates a logistics center for long goods, sheet metal and small parts. This includes a picking warehouse specially tailored to Schubert's needs. Here, small parts are commissioned in cassettes and automatically stored in cassettes. The cassettes, and therefore the required components and semi-finished products, are provided just-in-time for production via various retrieval stations. At the end of 2022, after almost 20 years of operation, the storage and retrieval machine and other wear components were completely overhauled during the Christmas break. For this purpose, a new SRM was lowered over the roof using a crane. In this way, the storage system can continue to operate and production is not interrupted.

Retrofit of an order picking warehouse

Storage cassettes for small parts
Small parts required for the production of the machines are stored mixed in the storage systems. The retrieval stations convey the cassettes to an ergonomic working height.

The picked small parts are provided in cassettes via several retrieval stations. The goods are booked directly via operator terminals. Any cassette can be moved to any station.
