The school garden not only serves as a place of retreat and relaxation for the children, but also actively enriches the classroom experience. In extracurricular activities, for example, raised beds are created, vegetables are grown, and bread and pizza are baked. “We can well imagine that later on, each class will sponsor and take care of its own area of the garden,” says principal Armin Perry, explaining the plans for using the school garden.
The first steps to restore the somewhat overgrown garden were already taken in the summer together with the students. Thanks to the donation, a sturdy table and benches made of galvanized steel were manufactured by a local locksmith. The school team assembled these together with students on their own initiative in the area of the popular stone oven.
Remmert and the Löhne secondary school are connected not only by their geographical proximity, but also by many years of cooperation in the area of vocational preparation. Many current and former students know Remmert through career exploration or internships, and some have even completed an apprenticeship at Remmert.
