Buffer storage system supports just-in-sequence delivery
voestalpine Sadef, part of the voestalpine Group, has optimized its production of truck and bus side members with an automated buffer storage system from Remmert. The new solution enables fully automated just-in-sequence delivery to customers, which was previously handled by labor-intensive manual processes. With 636 storage locations and an innovative overhead storage and retrieval system, Sadef achieves maximum space efficiency and seamless integration into production. The results are improved accuracy, fewer errors and labor costs, and greater operational flexibility.
The storage and retrieval machine moves on top of the rows of racking. This enables extremely high storage density.
The storage and retrieval machine lowers the removal unit from above. Telescopic forks place the side elements on cantilever arms or remove them from there.
voestalpine Sadef operates a plant in Hooglede, Belgium, employs around 600 people, and generates annual sales of over €250 million.
