Bin picking for long goods: Remmert presents AI-supported robotic solution at Logimat 2026

At Logimat 2026 in Stuttgart (March 24–26, 2026), Remmert will present a newly developed bin picking solution for the fully automated handling of unsorted long goods.

Roboter mit Vakuum-Werkzeug für Langgut-Manipulation

Stuttgart, Germany
March 24 - 26, 2026

Hall 3, Stand C14

The system, developed jointly with the Fraunhofer IOSB-INA Institute, enables the robot-assisted manipulation of bars, pipes and profiles made of metal or plastic with a unit weight of up to 300 kilograms. The solution particularly addresses applications in which long goods previously had to be picked manually. Thanks to the combination of industrial robotics, 3D vision and AI-based object recognition, disordered materials can be automatically removed and manipulated directly from load carriers. The system can be fully integrated into Remmert's long goods warehouses and is suitable for material provision at saws, finishing processes or for picking customer orders, among other things.

A central feature is the AI-supported image recognition. It reliably detects the position of packed and unpacked long goods in load carriers as well as the ideal storage position. Vacuum, magnetic or mechanical gripping tools are available for removal. Automatic tool changing is also possible.

"With this concept, we are consistently transferring bin picking to long components - an area that was previously hardly automated and required a high level of personnel deployment," says Hugo Allemann, Commercial Director at Remmert GmbH. "By using AI and 3D vision, we achieve a level of flexibility that enables automation even for long goods with many variants and disordered goods."

Integrated software platform for warehouse management and material flow

In addition to the robotics solution, Remmert will also be presenting its next-generation software concept at Logimat under the motto "Integrated Solutions". The focus is on the completely newly developed Warehouse Management System (WMS), which combines warehouse management and material flow control in one integrated platform and significantly simplifies the integration of external machines.

In addition, Remmert is presenting myRemmert, a digital service tool that supports technical support and maintenance of systems. Among other things, the solution offers a helpful ticket function for service support requests and creates the basis for proactive, data-based service.
